Natalie S. Wilson joined Gess, Mattingly & Atchison as a shareholder in 1978.
After many years in general practice, her legal practice is now focused in the
area of family law with particular expertise in matters pertaining to antenuptial agreements, divorce, legal separation, and child custody. She has
been listed in Best Lawyers of America for many years and has lectured
repeatedly on topics relevant to family law.
Mrs. Wilson graduated cum laude from Smith College in 1954. In 1968, she
graduated with high distinction from the University of Kentucky Law School.
While at the University of Kentucky, she was awarded the Order of the Coif and
was on the Law Journal.
During Mrs. Wilson’s tenure with Gess, Mattingly & Atchison, she has provided
legal counsel in several high-profile cases. Her reputation as a strong advocate
for her clients, particularly in complex family matters, is well known both
locally and within the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Notwithstanding the fact that
she is willing to take a case to trial if that becomes necessary, Mrs. Wilson
believes that it is the responsibility of attorneys who practice in this area of
law to be sensitive to the emotional and psychological needs of clients and
their families, and to endeavor to reduce the emotional level of marital
disputes by treating all parties and their counsel with respect and courtesy.
Mrs. Wilson believes that most issues can be resolved by honest negotiation and
that contested trials should only be a last resort.
Mrs. Wilson is an active contributor both to the legal community and to the
local community. She has served as a Bar Examiner for the State and currently
serves as Vice Chair of the Kentucky Child Support Guidelines Commission. She is
currently Chair of the Wilderness Road Girl Scout Council and Vice Chair of the
Blue Grass Airport Board.
