Walter R. Morris, Jr. joined Gess, Mattingly and Atchison, PSC, in 1982.
His principal areas of practice are estate planning and administration.
Mr. Morris began his legal career in 1977 as an associate with the law firm of
Eblen, Milner, Rosenbaum and Wilson. Immediately prior to joining Gess,
Mattingly and Atchison he was associated with the firm of Milner and Morris.
Mr. Morris has been actively engaged in all areas of estate planning and
administration since 1982. He has planned and administered estates of all sizes,
from the simple to the complex, and is intimately familiar with the planning
techniques currently in use including family limited partnerships, grantor
retained annuity trusts (GRATs), Crummey trusts, planning with grantor
(defective) trusts and sales to same, charitable split interest trusts, and life
insurance planning including irrevocable life insurance trusts and financing
techniques for acquisition of insurance products. Mr. Morris is committed to
providing estate planning services of the highest quality and sophistication
that are tailored to the needs and objectives of each client.
Mr. Morris is an active participant in numerous professional organizations
including the Bluegrass Estate Planning Council and the Kentucky Bar Association
where he is past chair of the Probate and Trust Law section and a member of its
Legislation Committee serving as its chair from 1998 to 2002. Mr. Morris is a
fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and serves on its
State Laws Committee.
