Biography:

Ms. Sears has been practicing law since 1993, and joined Gess Mattingly & Atchison in 2023. She is a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and obtained her law degree from the University of Kentucky. She practices law throughout the state and federal courts of Kentucky, as well as the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, as well as various state and federal administrative agencies. Ms. Sears is also certified as an Employment Law Mediator.

Ms. Sears primarily focuses her practice on employment law issues, such as discrimination, harassment and retaliation claims, as well as Americans with Disabilities Act and Family Medical Leave Act issues. She also counsels employers on an extensive range of labor, employment and human resource issues, including hiring, discipline, discharge, medical leave, wage and hour laws, disability accommodations, workplace harassment, employee investigations, and the development of personnel policies and procedures. Her practice further includes representing students on Individuals with Disabilities Education Act matters. She also previously served as an administrative hearing officer for the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government Human Rights Commission.
